The Success of the Transaction is more important than doing the deal.

Most Merger and Acquisition firms discuss their expertise in “doing the deal”. To them, the transaction is what matters. The Wasmer Group has a tremendous amount of expertise in mergers and acquisitions in the technology industry, gained from our involvement in over 100 M&A transactions. However, we are not concerned with “doing the deal”, we are concerned first and foremost with whether the transaction accomplishes the goals and objectives of our client. In other words was the deal successful?

At a time when M&A activity is constantly in the news, it is disheartening to hear that far more than 50% of acquisitions fail to perform to management expectations. What may look good on paper and make enormous sense - logically, strategically, and financially - can become a disaster in reality because of the unmeasured, underestimated impact of the “soft” side of the equation, i.e., people, culture, vision, mission, values, structure, roles, responsibilities, and timing. Our success rate is significantly higher than national average because we believe that in focusing on the goals and objectives of the parties involved many potentially unsuccessful deals can be averted, thereby significantly improving the success rate of our clients.

We do not take a shotgun approach, or mass mail to large databases of names. We get to know our clients and understand their unique cultures. We feel the success of an M&A transaction is directly related to the acquisition strategy and matching prospects with the same culture and goals. In so doing we seek the “successful transaction”.
